Engraved by Henri Reidel.  pochoir gouache over etching with some gold and silver embellishments, edition limited to 415 copies of the portfolio.  each 36cm x 47cm.  framed.  Note: Comprising a stunning collection of 12 full-page pochoir plates, Les Masques et les Personnages de la Comedie Italienne is widely regarded as Umberto Brunelleschi's finest work. The artist's strong Florentine influences are evident in his depiction of the traditional characters of the Commedia dell'Arte, including Scaramouche, Pierrot and Harlequine. the compositions feature dramatically costumes characters in the foreground set against whimsically rendered 'stage-sets', with distant landscapes in silhouette, expansive garden scenes and grand palaces.
