Sue Williams Biography

(b Chicago Heights, IL, 1954) American Painter. Sue Willams received her BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1976. In the1980’s, her work of black and white cartoon figures depicting sexual abuse, gained a lot of attention. Due to the subject matter of her work, Williams became known as a feminist painter. Recently, Williams has moved away from her cartoon style and has opted for abstraction. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
