More About this Item

Description: 1798 English George III Solid Sterling Silver Two-Handled Loving Cup Made in Newcastle Collabrative Piece by Thomas Watson & John Langlands II (481.9 Grams) - This wonderful, 218 year old piece is a solid sterling silver loving cup, made in 1789 in Newcastle, by famous silversmith Thomas Watson. This piece is a rare and special piece, because it was actually a collaborative piece done by both Thomas Watson and John Langlands II. The piece features beautiful hand chasing and fine repousse flower and scroll design throughout. The cup measures 6.5"H x 8"W, and rests on a circular base. The piece is fully hallmarked, near the top of the rim. The piece is marked for the year 1798, the silver standard mark, the mark for King George III, Thomas Watson, and the Newcastle city mark. The handles are both hallmarked with the 1799 stamp of John Langlands II. This piece is in near perfect condition, and is truly stunning.
