A pair of very early Citipati (Lord of the Funeral Pyre) masks, each example carved from a single piece of wood, one with simple ovoid eye holes, an openwork orifice that intriguingly depicts the epiglotis, gently contoured facial planes, and a long, straight nose, the other with curved, double eye slits surrounding incised closed eyes, gracefully arched brows, concave facial planes, a jutting toothy grin, an upturned nose, and a triangular motif carved in bas relief upon its forehead.
