Description: Chintz roll up purse, it's exterior fabric a dark brown chintz with rose blossoms with green floral print for the interior fabric. black 1" ribbon is used for it's closure. The contents of this purse include a beautiful little 2" red wool pillow with stump work design of leaves on a vine, some moth damage to wool. Also within this purse is a letter to Abigail (Wadsworth) from her mother Betsey, along with a small 2" hair wreath made from her mothers hair. The letter reads: "My dear daughter Abigail, When this braid of hair you see-remember your mother shed many tears for thee-remember a saviors love for you. Read your bible my dear and keep the commandments and forsake to meet your God in heaven. Oh may we meet where there will be no more parting. From your loving mother" The ink has faded over time but is still readable under a magnifying glass. Also inside the purse is a small card which reads "This billfold and contents belonged to Betsey Wadsworth about 1775". This appears to have been written sometime in the 20th century.
