Description: **1953 TITANIC FILM LIFEBOAT PROP: This lot consists of a 4ft. screen-used lifeboat prop from the iconic 1953 film Titanic starring Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck. Produced by 20th Century Fox, some cite this film as the most historically accurate until Fox's more recent re-do of the film with James Cameron at the 'helm'. The film centres around a wealthy man (Webb) who purchases a steerage ticket aboard the doomed liner, and his wife (Stanwyck) who is attempting to 'escape' from him with their two children. Some of the other prop lifeboats used in the film were 18ins. miniatures with the same figures but on a smaller scale. This model is 4ft. and contains numerous removable rubber figures in the boat representing survivors. So detailed were the prop makers that the figures are actually adorned with life jackets made of a canvas-like material with at least one of the figures still wearing its crew hat! This model came from a boat shop is San Diego, California after it closed, having sold at a 20th Century Fox auction in the 1970s. It matches the life-size screen used hero lifeboat No 6 which had been displayed at Movie World in Buena Park, California. This lifeboat is easily recognisable in the film as one of the boats with a motor (Titanic had none such) and oars. At 4ft. in length it can easily be the centrepiece of a Titanic or film collection. It is a true museum piece. Note: Prop's interior is original to the film while the outside has been repainted. Motor and oars no longer present. Special shipping arrangements will apply due to size.
