More About this Item

Description: 1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2 Carte grise française Châssis n°VF1822000E0000397 Moteur n°840B73050 - Parfait état de fonctionnement - Modifications réversibles - Seulement 3167 exemplaires! French registration Chassis n°VF1822000E0000397 Engine n°840B73050 - Perfect running order - Reversible modifications - Just 3167 examples! - Meticulous restoration The example on offer was bought by the current owner in 2005, from a pump attendant in the Blois region, when the car had not been running for nearly ten years. A huge enthusiast of the marque, the new owner threw himself into a full-scale restoration. All mechanical elements and the interior were taken out so that the body could be repainted in its original colour, pearl white. The cylinder head was removed, checked then refitted according to the correct specification, with a new water pump, seals and hoses. The camshaft was sent to the reputable Techniprofil to be recut in order to obtain more torque at low revs. The radiator was cleaned, the fuel system refurbished, and the turbo renewed by Baccerini. The gearbox was overhauled at the same time. The car was then re-upholstered, with new bucket seats and accessory steering wheel fitted, and a plate installed for extra gauges. As with the spotlights, all these modifications were made so that it would be easy to return the car to its original configuration. With this in mind, the original seats are available from the vendor. Finally, an extinguisher system has been installed as a preventative measure, notably for the engine compartment. A test drive with the owner demonstrated how well this desirable example runs. Any driver will appreciate the clever modifications, while fans of the original specification will also be happy, knowing that these improvements can be removed easily without leaving traces.
