Author: Sir John Froissart - Jean Froissart was a medieval French author, who wrote several works, including Chronicles, the Meliador, a long Arthurian romance, and a large body of poetry, both short lyrical forms, as well as longer narrative poems. For centuries, Froissart's Chronicles have been recognized as the chief expression of the chivalric revival of the 14th century Kingdom of England and France. Condition / Notes: This antique brown cloth set, with blind-stamped ornamentation and gilt lettering and pictorial designs, has separated front boards, and Volume I has a separating rear board as well. These volumes display significant external wear, with the spine cover of Volume II detaching at the foot. The front paste-downs of these volumes display armorial bookplates reading "Bibliotheque Schorsch." Light foxing is visible to a few pages at the front and rear of these volumes, but the interiors are otherwise clean and bright, with textual illustrations. The second volume contains an index.
