Chambers was an early phrenologist, and was the anonymous author of “Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation,” which was so controversial that his authorship was not acknowledged until after his death.

Book Details: Each day of the year has a listing of its saints, famous births and deaths, historical events, stories, anecdotes, poems, etc. that are associated with it, including a 45 page index.
Condition / Notes: This antique half-leather set with cloth covered boards has covers separated from the first volume. Both volumes show heavy chipping, wear, and loss to the spine. There is adhesive residue in the lower fore edge corner of the first volume sticking some pages together. The pages show mild age toning and numerous textual illustrations.
