Book Details: Hernando de Soto (c. 1495 – May 21, 1542) was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who led the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern-day United States (Florida, Georgia, Alabama and most likely Arkansas), and the first documented European to have crossed the Mississippi River.
Condition / Notes: These antique volumes are bound in green cloth, with faded gilt lettering on the spines. The exteriors show rubbing, edgewear, and faint spots of soiling. The front hinge of the first volume has been repaired with cloth tape; the rear hinge is cracked. The hinges of the second volume are cracked. The pages of both volumes exhibit age toning and foxing. Each volume bears the name of a previous owner in ink on the front pastedown.
