Title: The Mirror. A Periodical Paper, Published at Edinburgh in the Years 1779 and 1780.
Author: Henry Mackenzie - Henry Mackenzie FRSE was a Scottish lawyer, novelist and writer. He was also known by the sobriquet "Addison of the North." Though largely remembered as an author his principal income came from his numerous legal roles, ending in (1804-1831) his post as Comptroller of Taxes for Scotland, a well-paid role which allowed him to indulge his interest in writing. Condition / Notes: This antique set is bound in full leather with stamped gilt lettering/ornamentation on the spines and covers. The books show light external wear. The bindings are solid. The armorial bookplates of William Clark, Esq. are affixed to the front pastedowns. The pages show very mild age toning and occasional light marginal smudging/spotting.
