Description: Iron helmet bowl formed of 28 flat suji plates with russet iron surface, the individual plates studded with sturdy, blunt hoshi (rivets) which decrease in size toward the tehen, inscribed "Myochin Sakon Kii Munetake Saku". Four-stage, part-gilt tehen kanamono and agemaki-no-kan with slightly faded red agemaki. Leather covered mabezashi, three-lame, black lacquered ko manju shikoro of iron with blue sugake lacing. The fukigaeshi, also covered in leather, with wa mon. Original lining. Associated, finely worked iron mempo of Resseiho type, with impressive moustache of white yak hair. Three-lame yodare kake in the same lacing as the shikoro, the bottom inscribed "Kii Munetaka Saku Myochin Sakon". Height 24 cm, width 42 cm.
