Description: Slightly curved single-edged blade of "wild" Damascus, both sides double-grooved, double-edged central point, the upper half of each side etched and gilt, the obverse with a subtly framed presentation dedication "Martin s./l. Guiremand.", the back of the blade with gilt signature "M. Neumann Hoflieferant Berlin". Very massive non-ferrous metal bow guard, raised and in rich relief with well-preserved gilding, lion head pommel cap with inset red glass eyes, crossed cannon barrels on the obverse languet, the guard with an oak leaf decor, rayskin grip (rubbed) with intact wire wrap. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with two gilt non-ferrous metal bands and movable carry rings. Partial light damage, signs of age. Length 102 cm. A top-quality, unusually massive weapon in age-appropriate and very good condition.
