Lot 1041: A GEORGE III BRASS BOUND MAHOGANY SPIRIT CADDY, CIRCA 1790 |
26 October 2016
London, United KingdomLive Auction
Description: Glass, brass, mahogany
Bottle stand: Attractive. Silver plated stand with some tarnishing with copper showing at highlights. One butterfly screw missing to underside. The bottles are generally very good, they could possibly be associated but are a very, very good fit. Very minor chips to stoppers which does not detract. Mahogany Spirit Case: Locked and there is no key so interior not inspected. The case has an ebony strung border which is nice. Brass elements are loose and would benefit from securing. Residual brass polish to brass and mahogany. Lid handle is loose. Old marks and scratches consistent with age. This box looks nicer in the flesh.
