Description: with a three quarter pierced brass gallery, the inset red leather top with two frieze short drawers, locks stamped Chubb's Patent, losses

Condition Report: The elegant desk is in reasonable original condition, with an attractive patina and marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The pierced gilt-brass gallery, displaying overall tarnishing to the gilding, needs to be secured, and one fragment needs to be reattached. The upper carved border with two losses, one of which can be partly re-attached; the lower carved border to the frieze also with multiple losses, as visible from the catalogue photograph. The original inset leather top is distressed, with signs of wear and tear throughout, consistent with age and use. The legs, displaying good carving, are slightly loose and require some attention.
