Description: Sturdy double-edged blade, on long ricasso with two parrying hooks on the side. Bladesmith's signature "STANTLER ME FECIT" on both sides next to "Passauer Wolfsmarke" (Passau wolf mark). Ricasso with original, wood-based leather cover. Sturdy iron hilt with large parrying rings on both sides. Greatly structured grip with old leather cover. Heavy, conical pommel with eightfold fullers. Length 167 cm. Relatives of the Stantler family have been well-known as bladesmiths in Munich and Passau. The Stantlers, also known as Ständlers or Stäntlers, were a bladesmith family from Passau and resided there from 1455 - 1647. Wolfgang Stantler (II.), born circa 1552, is verifiable up to 1617.
