Description: Bright, extra wide pipe-backed blade with shear, beautifully curved, nickel plated and etched on both sides, at the obverse heel of blade stamped maker's mark of Lüneschloss, Solingen (a helmet crossed with swords), the obverse dedication in a blued cartouche between vines and lattice work "Nieter s/l. von der Decken / 1893", the reverse with "Trutz dem Feinde Schutz dem Freunde". Very massive, gilt brass knuckle-bow hilt (faded) with rich, especially high raised relief decor, two luminous red glass eyes set in the lion's head pommel, on the exterior guard a horse's head in relief, the obverse languet with two crossed cannon barrels, rayskin grip with intact triple wire wrap. Steel scabbard with two movable carry rings, neatly repainted in black (faded). Partial light damage, signs of age. Length 102 cm. A very rare, beautiful sabre in a unique size and in very good condition appropriate to its age.
