Description: comprising a sofa and two bergères
This comfortable group of seat furniture is overall in reasonable restored condition with minor old marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. Variation to the tonne of the cream silk damask which is evident from the catalogue. As per catalogue illustration: Left bergère - The silk damask in reasonable condition but has come loose to one side. Would benefit from a gentle clean according to taste. Chips and loses to the carved detail, notably to the left shoulder of the back rest. The front and rear legs with repaired breaks. Seat rails not inspected. The surface has been re-polished and there are areas where the varnish is gone due to abrasions. Sound and sturdy. Sofa - Silk damask in good condition but would benefit from a gentle clean according to taste. Movement to joints as to be expected. Crude repair to one of the front legs which could be improved. Minor chips to the finely carved detail. Surface re-polished and with signs of old woodworm throughout which no longer appears to be active. Right bergère - The silk damask is worn and would benefit from a clean. Restorations and repairs to the top rail. Repaired breaks to three legs, the rear right leg with a crude beech splice repair, and arm rests. Minor losses to carved detail. Signs of old worm which is no longer active. Seat rails not inspected.
