Description: Slightly curved, single-edged blade with two grooves. On both sides of the root etched cartouches with the Cyrillic abbreviation "TKV" (Terek Cossack Army) and "ZOF" for Zlatoust Arms Factory. Acceptance stamps on the ricasso. Steel hilt finely etched with floral design. Leather covered scabbard with en suite decorated mounts, the locket featuring an etched double eagle and maker's inscription for Zlatoust and abbreviation "TKV", on the reverse a floral cartouche with Cyrillic inscription (tr.) "Commissioned by I.G.B. 1904". Length 92.5 cm. One mount with minor repair, leather probably somewhat later. Cf. another shashka with similar blade in "Blankwaffen in der Sammlung des Russischen Ethnographie-Museums", 2006, p. 40, fig. 15 and in "Blankwaffen der Kubankosaken", B. Frolov, Diapason.
