Description: wool, pile
1Overall measurements: 53cm across the top, 154cm across the bottom, 196cm along the left side, 197cm along the right. Soft lustrous wool. Generally even 5mm pile, with some areas down to knot heads, eg top left corner of main field and along central vertical orientation along lower half. Minor oxidisation affecting mushroom ground of main field and evident lower pile in the outer guards, visible from the photograph. The reverse of all four edges have strips of cotton banding attached for support. The outer guards of all sides have been covered with a brown cotton strip, again visible from image. Some small areas of re-piling, and tiny areas of darker wool visible from the main field as tiny specs, these are not surface marks. A beautiful classical Chinese rug with elegant drawing to central field.
