Description: dating: late 19th Century
provenance: China
Finely painted in gold on blue ground and enclosed in a pink silk frame decorated with clouds, depicting Amitayus, the Buddha of long life, beside a stone, staring at a woman in the garden; the scroll featuring writings and seals, the writing on the left featuring Yao Yuan signature; the back is made of ping cloth, and features a writing on the external edge with Yao Yuan signature. Paper with folding. Yuan Yao was a Chinese, landscape painter born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu area, very active in the Qing dynasty. His date of birth and death are unknown.
