Description: Square-on-point yellow background, central depiction of a kneeling young man clad in an orange-coloured caftan with blue collar trim. A white band around his hip. On his head a fez with blue appliqué on the side. Expertly painted, fine features. Long, curled sideburns in front of the ears, curly hair down his neck. His left hand resting on his hip, his bent right hand holding a fig. Flowers in a field on his left and right. In the corners multi-coloured plant decoration. Particularly well-preserved tile with colour glaze painting in so-called "cuerda seca technique" of excellent quality and colours of intense vibrancy. Dimensions 23 x 23 cm, thickness 2.3 cm. From a private collection maintained in Germany, acquired in the first decade of this century from an English art dealer.
