Description: A RARE IMPERIAL GILT-BRONZE 'DRAGON' CHINESE RITUAL BELL, BIAN ZHONG QIANLONG CAST FIVE-CHARACTER MARK, CORRESPONDING TO 1741 AND OF THE PERIOD RARE and IMPORTANT, The bell is finely cast, surmounted with a double-headed PuLao dragon handle flanked on the flat top, the beast is powerfully modeled with eyes bulging and nostrils flaring above long curling whiskers , with two long studded horns extending back over its head along a combed mane with finely incised details. The main exterior elegantly displayed the imperial five-clawed dragons borne from turbulent cresting waves, the dragons detailed with ferocious faces and scaly bodies, the mouth of the dragon is agape, revealing its tongue flicked up between sharp fangs, writhing amongst stylized clouds and flame wisps surrounded with fumes clouds and flames. Bordered between bands of scrolling tendrils and cresting waves ribbons. The flat top of the bell having two rectangular cut-out, a precisely fitting bronze comes with the sculpture. The image of the five-clawed dragon can be considered the ultimate reflection of the Qianlong emperor's imperial splendor. The works displayed a unique and rare artifact, shows a masterly craftsmanship. There is a rectangular panel to each side, one inscribed with the seven script -KaiShu- characters in relief, 'Made in the 8th year of Qianlong reign'. Qing Dynasty Period and of the period.
