Description: 10¾-inch twelve-piece cartouche enamel dial, the movement with five vase-turned pillars, outside count wheel striking on a bell, later Brocot escapement and steel suspension, signed on the backplate C.D.G Mesnil A Paris, the case surmounted by a seated figure of Mercury above scroll, chariot and mask mounts, the whole veneered in brown shell and inlaid with foliate scrolls; on an later associated bracket                                                                                                           

Condition Report: Dial has hair cracks to I, II, VII and XI but otherwise good. Movement is complete but very much in need of a clean and service, later Brocot escapement and fixed steel suspension. Case in generally good condition with old cracks, repairs and minor lifting to inlay throughout, upper front mount loose but we have it, gilding is rather dirty and rubbed. Later associated bracket in comparable condition. With pendulum and case key but no winder.
