Echeistov, publisher's logo by Yury Annenkov. (Reproduced in the book Oblozhka - The Cover). Edition of 3000. Translations from 11 contemporary German poets; seven portraits by German Expressionsm artists; notes on Expressionism; biographical and bibliographical notes. [Contains poetry by Iohannes R. Becher, Franz Werfel, Walter Hasenclever, Georg Heim, Jacob van Hoddis, Iwan Goll, Ernst Droem, Klabund, Else Lasker-Schuler, Alfred Lichtenstein, and Albert Ehrenstein. Portraits by Ludwig Meidner, Oskar Kokoshka, E. Engert, Else Lasker-Schuler.

LOT NOTES
Echeistov Georgy (1897-1946) was a well-known Soviet graphic artist, book illustrator. He studied in VKhUTEMAS, the famous school of Russian Avant-garde art under Favorsky. He exhibited in 1931 (Paris) with Klutsis, Lissitzky, Popova, Rodchenko, Stepanova; in 1932 (Leningrad) with Kliun, Malevich, Tatlin, Filonov, etc. About him see: Milner, John. Annenkov Yury (1889-1974) was a well-known Russian and Soviet artist. Graphic and theater artist, painter, agitprop (propaganda painter). Studied in Paris. From 1924 lived in Germany and France. Exhibited in 1922 (Berlin) with Filonov, Gabo, Kandinsky, Malevich, Puni Pougny), Rozanova, Tatlin; in 1925 (Paris) with Kandinsky, Mayakovsky, Popova, Rodchenko, Stenberg; in 1932 (Philadelphia) with Archipenko, Chagall, Goncharova, Larionov, Lissitzky, Tzadkin.
