Lot 1102: A RUSSIAN GILT-METAL AND CUT-GLASS SIX-LIGHT CHANDELIER, CIRCA 1810 |
26 October 2016
London, United KingdomLive Auction
This fine chandelier is in overall reasonable condition. The crown has all of its protruding arms and drops, as does the first tier. The third tier of arms to the stem is lacking two sets of cut glass drops. The pierced brass rim to the lower section is lacking at least four sets of cut glass drops. However, these lacking elements can be easily replaced with the help of a professional. Some of the cut glass drops appear to be later, and of a slightly lower quality and would have been replacements. The chandelier has been formally fitted for electricity but Sotheby's recommends consulting a professional electrician to electrify.
