IGOR PAVLOVICH RUBINSKY (RUSSIAN 1919-?), Kolkhoz Women Cutting off the Fur of Sheep, circa 1950s, oil on unstretched canvas, 39 1/2 x 58 1/2 in ( 100 x 149 cm), signed lower right.
Born in Klimovichi , Belorussia, 1919. Studied at the Moscow Art Institute 1936-1947 (study interrupted by World War II). Active in Murmansk in early part of career; in Moscow later. Began exhibiting 1943. Important shows include "All-Union Art Exhibition', Moscow, 1946. Specialised in landscapes. Worked as a military artist in WW II; made designs for the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow; made murals for Moscow University.
