Description: Arabic manuscript on paper, 371 leaves plus 3 flyleaves, 13 lines to the page, comprising upper, middle and lower lines of muhaqqaq script in gold, 10 lines between in small naskh script in black ink, verses separated by gold dots, margins ruled in colours and gold, illuminated floral marginal devices throughout, f.1a with illuminated shamsa containing dedication, double page illuminated frontispiece composed of interlacing flowers and split-palmettes against blue and gold grounds, inner strap-work borders and text in white muhaqqaq script, following page with corresponding illuminated headpiece, brown morocco binding with stamped central lobed cartouches filled with scrolling saz leaves, with flap

Condition Report: In generally good overall condition, leaves cropped to accommodate later binding, various stains and worm holes with associated repair, abrasions to binding, as viewed.

Provenance: The dedicatory roundel on f.1a indicates that the Qur'an was in the possession of the Zaydi Imam of Yemen al-'Abbas ibn al-Husayn (r.1748-75). A note in the upper right corner of f.1a says that the manuscript passed to his successor al-Mansur (r.1775-1809) in 1208 AH/1793 AD.
