Description: Octagonal to conical barrel with smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Iron dovetail front sight, globe sight with chiselled landsknecht head. Surmounted by an illegible barrel mark. Rectangular pan with swivel cover and flash guard. Iron flintlock with surrounding ornamental line, dragon head cock. Iron trigger guard with baluster pommel. Full stock of fruit wood with rich inlays of engraved and blackened bone. Sporadic losses, minor replacements. Butt cap made of bone. Original ramrod with horn tip and iron threaded sleeve. Length 122 cm. A similar petronel belongs to the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York (Acc.No. 32.75.111), where it is listed as a French weapon.
