Description: Alberto Tarantini match-worn Argentina blue & white striped No.3 jersey from the Game v the New York Cosmos 6th June 1979, short-sleeved; sold together with an official match pennant for the Cosmos v Argentina national team (2) Argentina fielded the team who had won the 1978 FIFA World Cup with the sole exception of Mario Kempes who had club commitments with Valencia in Spain. His place was taken by an exciting teenage prospect named Diego Maradona. The World Champions defeated their American hosts 1-0 through a goal by World Cup winning captain Daniel Passarella. The former Boca Juniors World Cup winning left-back Alberto Tarantini had just finished a stormy one season spell at Birmingham City in England which culminated with him punching a heckling spectator.
