This 'Bertone-GT' is a rare original 1600 model. The vehicle was registered until the end of 2005 and was then stored in dry conditions. The Alfa has to be completely restored after standing for more than 10 years and therefore provides a very useful basis. The vehicle is fully equipped with an ornamental frame for the windscreen and rear window, which can be found in the trunk. The vehicle is not in running condition.
The engine of this original 1600 GT is equipped with two Weber 40 DCOE 44 carburettors. Installed are also the nice 5 ½" x 14 alloy wheels from 'Campagnolo' the 2-liter version of this series. The seat features come from the very rare 'GT 1750 Veloce' model of the 2nd series and is a highly sought after part!
The famous designer Giugiaro created the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT 1961 for Bertone at the young age of 23 and made it a design milestone. Today it is both sought-after among collectors, as well as popular in vintage car races. Famous race car drivers like Carlo Chiti, Rolf Stommelen, Jochen Mass and many others were convinced by its reliability. The racing model Giulia GTA won 61 touring car championships between 1966 and 1975. As of 1970 Bertone smoothed the characteristic edgy hood and the 1600 remained a classic in the world-famous type series 105.
