Description: Alfred de VIGNY 1797-1863 "De mademoiselle Sedaine et de la propriété intellectuelle. Lettre à Messieurs les Députés" : documents historiques et notes autographes [Vers 1750-1841]. Ens. environ 120 p. in-12, in-8, in-4 et in-folio (dimensions diverses). Ensemble de documents historiques sur le poète, dramaturge et librettiste Michel-Jean Sedaine (1719-1797), collectés par Alfred de Vigny pour préparer son article "De mademoiselle Sedaine et de la propriété intellectuelle. Lettre à Messieurs les Députés" publié dans la Revue des deux mondes le 15 janvier 1841. "Vigny avait tenté en 1837 de faire rééditer les œuvres de Sedaine au bénéfice de la fille de celui-ci […] car, aux termes de la loi du 19 juillet 1793, les œuvres de Sedaine étaient tombées dans le domaine public en 1807, dix ans après la mort de l'auteur. […] L'occasion lui fut donnée de revenir à la charge par la préparation d'un projet de loi sur la propriété littéraire" (Alphonse Bouvet) qui devait être présenté à la Chambre des députés le 18 janvier 1841. Cet ensemble comprend notamment : 28 lettres autographes du critique littéraire Friedrich Melchior Grimm à Sedaine, dont une signée ([vers 1766-1783], 55 p. ; Vigny cite ces lettres dans son article : "vous auriez plaisir à lire quelques lettres de Grimm, inédites encore et que j'ai là sous les yeux") ; 8 lettres autographes, certaines signées, de Charles Collé à Sedaine ([vers 1768-1771], 17 p. ; une note autographe de Vigny indique : "Lettres de Collé à Sedaine sur La Gageure imprévue, très-curieuses") ; une lettre signée de Jean-Joseph Vadé à Sedaine (18 juillet 1750, 3 p. ) ; un manuscrit autographe de Sedaine (24 février 1785, 4 p. ; fragment des paroles de l'oratorio "Les Fureurs de Saül" de l'abbé Lepreux) ; la copie manuscrite d'une "lettre de Sedaine à Mr XXX. Paris…1778" ([vers 1778], 11 p ; quelques annotations de Vigny) ; la copie manuscrite d'une vie de Sedaine par le comte de Durfort ([vers 1797], 24 p. ) ; un exemplaire de l'Éloge historique de M. J. Sedaine par Constance Pipelet (Paris, 1797, in-8 broché, défraîchi ; nombreuses annotations de Vigny). Quelques manques, déchirures et pliures marginaux, certains atteignant le texte.
