Description: Alfred de VIGNY 1797-1863 "Le Mont des Oliviers". Manuscrits et esquisses autographes [Vers 1839-1862]. Ens. 13 p. in-8, in-4 et in-folio (dimensions diverses). Manuscrit de travail et esquisses autographes, avec de nombreuses corrections, du poème "Le Mont des Oliviers" dont la rédaction fut achevée, à l'exception de la strophe "Le Silence", le 12 novembre 1839. Il fut publié d'abord dans la Revue des deux mondes (1er juin 1843) puis, au tout début de l'année 1864, dans l'édition posthume du recueil Les Destinées. Ce manuscrit de travail - dont une page, mise au net, semble avoir appartenu originellement au manuscrit conservé aujourd'hui à la Bibliothèque nationale de France - est incomplet de deux pages (p. 4 et 5 sur 7). Il s'achève par la mention "écrit le 12 [novem]bre 1839 à Paris". Il est accompagné de diverses esquisses du poème réparties sur quatre pages et demie et d'une chemise très annotée par le poète. Aux esquisses et au manuscrit originel de1839 sont joints ceux de deux strophes qu'Alfred de Vigny élabora plus de vingt ans après, vers le printemps 1862, pour compléter son poème, l'une intitulée "Invocation. - Ô Fils de l'Homme", l'autre "Silence". Le poète les a écrites, avec quelques ratures, sur deux pages in-8 extraites d'un cahier ligné, portant chacune une inscription au crayon rouge : "1ère strophe, faire", "2e strophe". Or ces deux manuscrits semblent bien avoir échappé à la sagacité des éditeurs du premier tome des Œuvres complètes de Vigny dans la Bibliothèque de la Pléiade puisqu'ils ne citent pas la première et qu'ils précisent que la seconde n'est connue que par la copie Dorison, "nul manuscrit n'en [étant] parvenu jusqu'à nous". Ce manuscrit original de la strophe du "Silence" porte la mention "2 avril 1862 - après le poème du Mont des Oliviers". Manques, déchirures et pliures marginaux, certains atteignant légèrement le texte. Déchirure transversale à un feuillet, sans manque. Quelques brunissures, rousseurs et taches.
