Pergamentband der Zeit mit Rückenschild und blindgeprägten Wappensupralibros (gebräunt und etwas angestaubt). Erste französische Ausgabe der bereits 1723 in englischer Übersetzung erschienenen Reisebeschreibung. - Blackmer 946 - Cox II, 78 - Grieb/Luber 764 - Röhricht 1238. - "La Mottraye reiste über mehrere Jahrzehnte (von 1696 bis 1725) durch Europa, Asien und Nordafrika. Schwerpunkte seiner Reisebeschreibung sind Italien, Deutschland, Skandinavien, das Osmanische Reich und das nördliche Schwarzmeergebiet" (Griep/L.). Interessant ist auch seine Schilderung der schwedischen Bergwerke. - Unter den Tafeln auch Kostümbilder, dabei einige frühe Arbeiten William Hogarths. - Ohne den aus Band 1 wiederholten gestochenen Titel in Band 2. - Exlibris, nur teilweise leicht gebräunt. - Sehr gutes Exemplar. 2 vols in 1 vol. With engr. title, 2 engr. title-vignettes, 47 (26 fold.) engr. plates, 4 fold. engr. maps. Contemp. full vellum with blindstamped supralibros (somewhat browned and dusted). - Vol. 2 lacking engr. title. - Exlibris. Only slightly browned. Very good copy.
