Réunion de cinq lettres autographes signées et une lettre signée à Alfred de Vigny

[Paris et Mâcon], 11 juin [1830], 26 février [1834], [23 décembre 1840], [4 ? février 1841], [12 décembre 1843] et 1er décembre 1856. Ens. 8 p. un quart in-8 (dimensions diverses), 3 suscriptions et 2 enveloppes.

Correspondance d''Alphonse de Lamartine à Alfred de Vigny : "Mon cher Vigny, acceptez mes mauvais vers et ne les lisez pas. Je sens que je ferai mieux une [autre] fois. Je rougis de vous les offrir, mais c''est un hommage et non pas un présent. " (11 juin [1830] ; les deux volumes des Harmonies poétiques et religieuses venaient d''être publiés) ; "Je voudrais être Roi pour vous couronner comme génie, mais je ne suis qu''un ami pour vous aimer et un pauvre député pour vous servir." ([23 décembre 1840], en réponse à une demande d''intervention faite par Vigny en faveur d''Alexandre Brierre de Boismont) ; "[…] comptez sur moi pour tout ce qui pourra vous prouver affection et vous donner entrée et gage. Le bonheur d''être dedans c''est de tendre la main dehors à ceux qu''on a aimé [sic] avant que la Postérité les honore" ([12 décembre 1843], à propos de la candidature que Vigny venait d''envoyer à l''Académie française). La lettre signée, datée du 1er décembre 1856 mais expédiée le 11, est une proposition de renouvellement d''abonnement au Cours familier de littérature. Vigny a noté sur la lettre : "Qu''il t''a fallu souffrir pour devenir ainsi !" et sur l''enveloppe : "Triste et déchirant appel d''un poète désespéré". Alphonse de Lamartine et Alfred de Vigny s''étaient liés en juin 1826 mais des divergences politiques notamment eurent raison de leur amitié et leurs rapports restèrent relativement distants.

Quand on crie au poète contre vous, le Docteur noir fronce le sourcil et Stello soupire" ([29 décembre 1840], en réponse à la lettre de Lamartine du
23 présentée plus haut).
