Lot 523: An armless man.
29 October 2016
Yonkers, NY, USALive Auction
Description: An armless man. A text on the verso identifies the subject as Willie Fox, “Who had both arms blown off by the accidental discharge of a cannon at the railroad celebration at Park Rapids Minn. on Aug. 1st, 1891. Here as elsewhere there are backdrops that are vaguely classical or European, with little connection to the subject or actual location of the studio. So those with more appropriate backdrops should be specially appreciated. By Wetzel, Park Rapids,Minnesota.
