Description: Portuguese silver of the late 17th, early 18th century
Baroque, relief and chiselled decoration
Tab with 16 flutes decorated with different flowers; centre frame decorated with shells, spiral volutes and four wolves; centre with two relief frizzes, one fluted the other draped; central medallion depicting Caquesseitão with open wings
Porto assay mark of the late 17th, early 18th century and "F" maker's mark of same date
(wear signs, small fissure)

Notes: Note: Baroque salvers depicting the mythical creature "Caquesseitão" as described by Fernão Mendes Pinto in the 14th chapter of "Peregrinação" are very rare
