Description: Personal specimens of Major Joseph D. Bryan who acted as prosecutor against Seyß-Inquart and obtained the death sentence for him. The "Document Book" with more than 300 single-sided typewritten, punched pages formatted 33 x 20.5 cm. Numerous German secret documents in English translation i. a. detailed listings regarding Dutch Jews deported to Poland. Comes with folder "Trial Brief" with 64 paginated, single-sided typewritten, punched pages formatted 33 x 20.5 cm as well as an extended index with biographical data of the defendant and specific details of war crimes in Austria, Poland and the Netherlands with the respective proof documents. Contemporary copies for prosecution use. Both existing folders are the structure of the originals on which the reasoning of Major Joseph D. Bryan was based. Of outstanding importance are the enclosed proof documents. Damaged, signs of age. Restoration recommended. Arthur Seyß-Inquart (1892 - 1946) became a member of the SS (SS-no. 292.771) on March 12th, 1938 and moved up to the rank of SS-Obergruppenführer by April 1941. Apart from that, Seyß-Inquart was Reich Minister without portfolio from 1939 - 1945. In 1939, shortly after the Second World War had begun, he became deputy of Generalgouverneur Hans Frank in the German-occupied Generalgouvernement. On May 18th, 1940 Hitler appointed him Reichskommissar for the occupied Netherlands. There Seyß-Inquart was responsible for the introduction of forced labour, deportations of more than 100,000 Dutch Jews to concentration camps as well as for the execution of resistance fighters.
