Description: Asien - Südostasien - - Parmentier, Henri Ernest Jean. Archiv zur Kunst und Architektur von religiösen Stätten und Tempeln in Vietnam, Indien, Kambodscha, Burma, Thailand und Bali. Mit 180 teils montierten Original-Photographien und 56 Tusch- und Bleistiftzeichnungen. Um 1900. Ca. 7,5 x 11 cm bis 19 x 31,5 cm (Photos) und ca. 21 x 14,5 cm bis 38,5 x 27,5 cm (Zeichnungen).
Der französische Archäologe und Absolvent der École des Beaux-Arts de Paris Henri Ernest Jean Parmentier (1871-1949) war Leiter und Gründungsmitglied des Service archéologique de l'École Française d'Extrême-Orient, gründete Museen und war auch aktiv an zahlreichen Ausgrabungen und Expeditionen beteiligt. Er veröffentlichte einige Bücher zur Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte Südostasiens. - Die vorliegende Sammlung dokumentiert die Verbreitung des Buddhismus in Südostasien. - Die meist nummerierten und mit maschinenschriftlichen Legenden oder handschriftlichen Anmerkungen versehenen Photographien von religiösen Stätten weisen darauf hin, dass es sich um die Materialsammlung für eine wohl nicht realisierte Veröffentlichung Parmentiers handelt. - Die äußerst detaillierten und sauberen Zeichnungen zeigen Tempelanlagen und heilige Stätten in Gesamt- und Detailansichten sowie Grund- und Aufrissen. - Teils etwas gebräunt oder knickspurig.
