Note: the work apparently signed verso but obscured by the 1969 re-line. Sold with old tracing of the signature prior to the re-line.
The Gregor family, important Cornish family who came into prominence during the 16th and 17th centuries as merchants and landowners.
The lot also sold with further information regarding the Gregor family of Cornwall to include the Journal of the Royal Institution of Cornwall Vol. VI Part 1, 1969 (in which the above portrait is illustrated), hand-written family tree, correspondence with the Cornwall County Council and an engraved view of Trewarthenick House, Cornwall (commissioned by the Gregor family in 1686).
