Description: Artist: CHARLES VERSCHUUREN, JR. (1899-1955) Size: 31 3/4 x 43 3/8 in./80.5 x 110 cm Kotting, Amsterdam There is a long graphic history of using overdrawn African characters to emphasize the blackness of a given shoe polish. Here, the trope is taken a step further, the product being likened to the darkness of his skin and the richness of coconut oil. (black)
