More About this Item

Description: 5 June 1880 6% Bond for £100. black. No 5213. In 1872, the Bolivian government issued a foreign loan in Britain. The loan was to be repaid from duties on imports into Bolivia via the Amazon River, and profits of the National Bolivian Navigation Co. Part of the capital was repaid after a legal action in London by the Navigation Co. The balance, we believe, was never paid. This certificate was issued by a trust of bondholders in 1880 to give more power to their claims.
