Brussels, BelgiumLive Auction
Description: 1933 OOST-VLAANDEREN. SOTTEGEM. 6% Obligatie van F1000, unissued. blue, buff. #500. No 1945. Formed in 1910 to acquire from Gustaaf van Vyve his brewery in Zottegem (founded 1898). Each shareholder was obliged to buy a certain volume of beer on an annual basis. The brewery was modernised in 1933 (hence the bond on offer of the same year). The beer they produced had the curious name of 'Poepentsoe' (literally the back of a pig), but referring to "the best part of meat of a pig", indicating the brewery made the best of beers. However, by 1952, the company went bankrupt, unable to compete against the big breweries of its days.
