c. 1824, Historic Copper Lusterware Pitcher "CORNWALLIS Resigning his Sword at York Town Oct. 19, 1781" and "LAFAYETTE (Crowned in Glory)," Choice Extremely Fine.
This quality, colorful Lusterware Pitcher measures 4" tall x 2.25" at its base. There are two black transfers displayed on white fields, have just a bit of friction under the spout, with the overall bright appearance of near New. One side has: "Cornwallis Resigning his Sword at Yorktown Oct. 19, 1781" being a design is listed as C. 29 on page 82 in "Anglo-American Ceramics Part I" by Arman. The other side has: "LaFayette (Crowned in Glory)" listed as L.1 on page 123 in the Arman reference. This is a scarce size and a is lovely example for display.
