Description: Castilian School. Toro and Salamanca Workshop. Circa 1600 - 1620. "Adoration of the Magi" Carved birchwood relief. The scene takes place on a background of classical architecture in ruins. In the foreground we see the Adoration of the Magi, who are dressed in courtly clothes. In the Toro and Salamanca workshops, unconnected with the new currents from Rome, the artists Sebastián de Ucete and Esteban de Rueda worked, among others. Works of art which came from these workshops include the altarpiece in the church of Saint Michael in Peñaranda de Bracamonte, Salamanca, and the altarpiece of Saint Ildefonso in Villalpando church. The lot includes a certificate by Professor Antoni Josep Pitarch in which he gives an extensive account of the origin and chronology of the relief. 86 x 47 cm.
