Description: Artist: ADOLFO HOHENSTEIN (1854-1928) Size: 20 3/8 x 29 1/8 in./51.8 x 74 cm Doyen di Luigi Simondetti, Torino The filament light bulb, introduced to the market in the 1880s, quickly became the preferred means of artificial light. (Now known as Edison bulbs, they have returned as a preferred means of restaurant atmospherics.) Here, a woman illuminates a nearby city with a light by Cesare Urtis, while a cascade of bulbs frames her nude back. (electric0.)
