In his comments in the catalogue about the Alcázar, Clifford shows his interest in and knowledge of historic buildings, the most recent lines of thought about the preservation of the architectural heritage, he describes its current state of preservation, its origins “ This has been completely restored, and from its subdeud and harmonious colouring, perhaps more truly represents the original state of this palace than any other portions. It will be recollected this is not a Moorish relic, but the palace of the Spanish King, “Don Pedro el Cruel”.
