This photograph conserves the black margins left around the image when making the contact print. Its size is larger than the ones usually commercialized.
Charles Clifford draws attention to this photograph with the following description found in the catalogue: “Avila as seen from the Railway. A very interesting and imposing specimen of the severe old Castillian cities. Its ancient walls are in a good state of preservation.
