Description: MASSACHUSETTS/NEWYORK, 1872-1930 A fine oil on canvas Impressionist painting of a seated female nude by famed American artist Charles Webster Hawthorne. The work depicts a nude female seated on a pillow top stool wrapped in diaphanous drapery in front of an oval mirror. The room is accented by a vase of red and pink flowers. The work shows significant influence from Impressionist master Edgar Degas, in that Hawthorne depicts the reverse of the subject not revealing her face. The work is signed lower left center.
Condition Report: Overall very good condition.
Provenance: From a fine collection of several paintings from a North Kingstown estate.
