Description:
Title: The Idol in Horeb: Evidence that the Golden Image at Mount Sinai was a Cone, and not a Calf
Author: Charles T. Beke - Charles Tilstone Beke was an English traveller, geographer and Biblical critic.
Publisher: Tinsley Brothers
City: London
Year: 1871
Printing Information: First Edition
Binding Style: Hardcover
Pagination: 155 pages
Width: 5.5" Height: 8"
Book Details: From the consignor's notes:

This volume is a scholarly work, focusing on a famous incident from the 32nd chapter of Exodus. It is a narrative of of a golden idol in the form of a calf, in direct violation of the Jews' covenant with God, and the consequences that ensued. Beke argues that the calf was in fact a cone, referencing historical facts and analysis of translations of ancient Hebrew.
Condition / Notes: This is the first edition of this work. This antique volume is bound in brown cloth, with gilt lettering to the spine and blind stamped ornamentation to the covers. This former library book displays fading to the spine, a spot of soiling to the rear cover, and wear to the spine extremities. The front hinge is cracked, and the text block is cracked between pages 48 and 49. Library bookplates and attachments are present to the paste-downs. The interior displays mild foxing, but is otherwise clean and bright.
